014 ☯ Alma [VIDEO]
Yu!
[The video feed clicks on in a rush to show Alma with a rather determined look on his face. He's sitting on a small patch of concrete near the garden, a leather-bound notebook (fairly similar to one used by a certain inspector, in fact) open in his lap.]
I forgot to ask... Do you know when my birthday is?

he can't keep up that banter for very long, unfortunately. it's like a, uh, cicada. be stupid for ten minutes and then clam up for a few hours.]
He hasn't changed. [..it's kind of both comforting and eerie to know that.
--hmph!]
Tch. You wish.

[A brief pause, remembering his own Johnny. They might as well be talking about the same guy and that's the hell of it.]
I don't expect he will.
[ frowns at 'llujah next, doing a pretty good job of sounding inordinately aghast: ] And that's not right.

He will. The war's going to end. [someday, maybe. maybe. it will.]
If it was a skirt I wouldn't be tripping on it all the time. [
MOCKING FACEwe'll he'd turn on video to show you, but. there's really no point in that.]1/2
[And see, there goes another notch on the proverbial ruler measuring the gap between them. Allen believes with all his heart that the war will end someday, but he's also looking at a long, hard road before they get there. Thus his comment about Johnny wasn't made in any capacity of immediacy.
In contrast, he's reminded that for 'llujah, the war really is about to end. He might not have meant it that way, but that's what it sounds like to Allen's ears.
So there's really nothing he can do except smile, a little tightly, a little grim, but lit by a steely resolution and fierce with the belief that in the end, it'll all be okay.]
[ simply: ] It will.
[And Johnny, bless his soul, will be one of many to make it through to what they're fighting for.]

You've been tripping on it?
[All the time? What the hell. GJ Johnny, what if the human race is extinguished by an untimely stumble on 'llujah's part. WHAT THEN.
(skhfsldf this feed is video, by the way...!)]

'llujah's going to see this war through in this lifetime, like it or not. it's been too long and there's no way he'll let it go on any longer, considering the point they're at now, and the fact that even more sacrifices will be pulled in to end it later.]
They made it too long. Didn't have time to get it fixed. [shrug...] I'm used to it by now.
[aaalll video, all the time aldjkd this is kind of rare.]

[That gets a short laugh from Allen, half-exasperated, half-empathising. Time is never on their side, it seems. Being an Exorcist means constantly racing against the clock; always scrambling to get there first, to heal in as little time as possible, to live in moments. They're all used to it, but even back home, the pace's been getting to be something close to frantic. The message's clear: after 7000 years, they're finally running out of time.
And for Kanda to say he didn't even have time to fix something so basic, well—
It's telling.]

[Better be used to it, because to hell with a setback so minor, you'd better be ready to fight for your world (is it that different from Allen's, really) and win and he is so sorry he hasn't been there for everyone, but he'll make it there for the end, you'll see. There's just no way he would ever— He will be there.]

as if that's even necessary?!?don't be silly, as if he'd let something so minuscule get in his way. he's been through worse. it's the scrambling battle for the last few pieces of Innocence before they're destroyed, picking up new Accomodators and giving them minimal training before throwing them into battle. between tailoring new uniforms and researching and implanting Innocence, there's little time to do anything more. the issue of the uniform being a bit too long isn't important enough to take up their time.
besides. worse case scenario, he can just cut it shorter.]
Che. As if something like that would stop me.

[And it wasn't literal so much as a vessel for the things he really wants to say, but it looks like enough of it got through anyway.]
[ a quiet exhalation, slow and deliberate, not so much a sigh than consciously releasing a held breath after feeling something settle into place ] —Good.
